Richard Siegal

Lunar Cycle

Lunar Cycle is the latest and most ambitious production to date for a museum by renowned US choreographer Richard Siegal. The interdisciplinary project combines dance, music and visual art to create a month-long performative installation. Lunar Cycle explores human movement as a reaction to climate change over the period of a lunar phase cycle and interweaves geodata of melting polar ice caps with performance, light and projections, sound and live music to create a meditative and multisensory experience. Spread over 1,400 square metres, the immersive and performative installation invites the visitor to reflect on the impact of human activity on our environment and its repercussions. The choreography is performed live by international dancers from Folkwang Tanzstudio and the Ballet of Difference as well as a large number of volun teers, while Ensemble Musikfabrik from Cologne accompanies Lunar Cycle with music.

A production by Richard Siegal in collaboration with Museum Folkwang, the Folkwang University of the Arts, Folkwang Tanzstudio, the Ballet of Difference and Ensemble Musikfabrik
